COMMUNITY AND FOOD

Extending the Value of the Harvest

Blannicombe is part of a wider community, and we believe that our role extends beyond the boundaries of the estate.

A day’s shooting supports more than the sport itself. It contributes to local employment, works in partnership with nearby businesses and helps sustain rural skills that might otherwise be lost. These connections are an important part of what makes the estate function and are something we value highly.

We are equally mindful of our responsibility when it comes to the birds harvested during the season. They are not simply part of the day’s tally. They are food. Natural, sustainable and deserving of proper use and respect. Every effort is made to ensure that this resource is handled correctly and enters the food chain as it should.

We are developing relationships with local organisations and community groups to ensure that game from the estate can be used to support those who would benefit from it most. By directing food into the community, we are able to extend the value of a day’s shooting in a practical and meaningful way.

This approach reflects our wider philosophy. A well run sporting estate should contribute positively not only to the land, but also to the people connected to it. By ensuring that the harvest is used responsibly, we are able to create benefits that reach beyond the field and into the community itself.
