A DAY AT THE BLANNICOMBE SHOOT

A day at Blannicombe begins in a way that sets the tone for everything that follows. Guests are welcomed with coffee and a chance to settle in, meet the team and take in the surroundings.

There is a sense of anticipation, but never pressure. We believe that a good day starts with clarity, so the plan is outlined, safety is covered properly and expectations are set from the outset.

From there, the day moves forward with a natural rhythm. The drives have been carefully planned to make the most of the estate’s variety, moving through different aspects of the ground without unnecessary travel or disruption. Some drives sit within sheltered valleys, where birds appear suddenly and demand quick, instinctive shooting. Others open out into wider ground, where height and line require a more measured approach. This variation keeps the day engaging and ensures that every Gun is tested in different ways.

Between drives, there is time to pause and enjoy both the setting and the company. Hospitality is an important part of the day, and we take pride in offering food and refreshments that are generous, well prepared and in keeping with the character of the estate.

Conversation flows easily, and it is often in these moments that the day takes on its full shape, combining sport with camaraderie. As the afternoon draws on and the final drives are completed, the day comes together in a way that feels balanced rather than rushed. The presentation of the bag is handled with respect, and there is time to reflect on the shooting before departure.

Our aim is always that guests leave feeling they have experienced something well considered and genuinely enjoyable.
